In what is developing into a standoff between states and the federal government that could be bigger than gun control or even health care, 17 states have launched versions of Arizona's immigration law, even as federal officials say they may not bother to process illegal aliens caught by the states.

His organization is assembling the list of state efforts to emulate the Arizona law, which makes it illegal under state as well as federal law to be in the state without documentation.

In Arizona's neighboring state Utah, for example, Rep. Stephen Sandstrom, R-Orem, reportedly is drafting a bill that would similarly require immigrants to carry proof of status and require law enforcement officers to check for it.

"With Arizona making the first step in this direction, Utah needs to pass a similar law or we will see a huge influx of illegals. The real issue is just establishing a rule of law in our state."
Across the country in Maryland, Baltimore's WBAL-TV reported earlier that State Delegate Patrick McDonough, R-Baltimore County, is drafting a bill identical to Arizona's. He's also planning to poll his fellow legislators before the bill is filed.

I believe in getting rid of the current tax on productivity, whether it's productivity on work, wages... both on corporations and individuals. Also eliminate capital gains and tax on savings and dividends and inheritance. And we go to a consumption tax, completely.
who won for his state's citizens the first broad-based tax cuts in its history; who turned his state's $200 million deficit into an $850 million surplus; who cut his state's welfare role in half; who protected his state's institution of marriage from the reach of unelected social-engineering liberal judges (but I repeat myself); who protected the right of his state's citizens to keep and bear arms; who limited his state's awarding of punitive damages to $1 million in civil cases; who protected his state's gun manufacturers from frivolous lawsuits; who improved the national rank of his state's schools from 49th to 8th; who eliminated the marriage penalty and doubled the standard deduction and childcare tax credit for his state's citizens; who repealed all capital gains taxes on home sales for his state's citizens as well as lowered by a quarter their capital gains tax rate and expanded their homestead exemption; who established for his state's citizens tax-free medical care and college tuition savings accounts; and who won for his state's businesses and citizens a free trade agreement with our country's long-time ally South Korea (while Juan MqQain was voting in favor of "free" trade agreements with long-time adversaries China and Vietnam) — so much so, in fact, that even ultra-liberal Time magazine had to concede Mike Huckabee was among the Top 5 Governors in the nation.
Governor Huckabee also signed the Numbers USA "No Amnesty" Pledge as well as immigration-reform hero Senator Jeff Session's "True Immigration Reform" Pledge. (25-Year-Member of Congress Juan Amnesties-R-Us MqQain III hasn't signed either of them.)
Governor Huckabee has signed the Americans for Tax Reform's pledge not to raise taxes, too, and has vowed to totally replace the hideous IRS with the universal-prebate Fair Tax. (25-Year-Member of Congress Juan Taxcuts-Rn't-Us MqQain III hasn't signed any such pledge or made any such vow).
So it should come as no surprise that Paul Weyrich, Moral Majority co-founder and former Mitt Romney supporter, has now endorsed Governor Mike Huckabee:
I believe that the voters in this Republican nomination contest — here in Virginia and across the country — deserve a real choice. And Governor Huckabee is clearly the conservative alternative. He is the best choice, and he is my choice. So I am voting for him on Tuesday, here in Virginia.
I don't buy the idea that John McCain is a true conservative. Nor do I buy the idea that Mike Huckabee should get out of this contest. The people in the Potomac area — Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. In addition, we have many important states coming up, including my home state of Wisconsin. Folks in all those states deserve a choice a real choice.
I had been a supporter of Mitt Romney, but now I am very glad that Governor Huckabee has decided to stay in the race. I appreciate that he is staying in, just as I appreciate that Governor Huckabee and Senator McCain are not going at each other's throats — a vigorous debate about important issues is the healthiest thing possible for the Republican Party.
Governor Huckabee has articulated some very clear differences with Senator McCain: on immigration, on McCain Feingold, and also on the McCain Lieberman global warming scheme. Mike Huckabee is much more solid on the social issues, including right to life. Yes, Senator McCain says that he has a right to life record, but he can't be supportive of embryonic stem cell research and have a clear right to life record, because the right to lifers, including me, want to protect all life, from conception of natural death.
Governor Huckabee is also good on marriage, insisting that it be limited to one man and one woman. Unfortunately, Senator McCain refused to vote for the marriage amendment.
These are important differences.
By voting for Governor Huckabee, people will be telling Senator McCain and the Republican Party establishment that they better accommodate these conservatives and their heartfelt beliefs, or else they the GOP will not be able to win the general election this November. Like Governor Huckabee, I have great respect for Senator McCain, but he and his Republican Party backers have to make sure that they accommodate the base of the Republican Party.
If they don't, Senator McCain may find that the conservative grassroots won't turn out to vote this November. I know my fellow conservatives. I have been active in the conservative movement since 1960. I was an early supporter of Barry Goldwater, and I was a delegate for Ronald Reagan in 1976 and 1980. And so I remind all the Washington DC-oriented political strategists that outside-the-beltway conservatives don't have to vote for every candidate if they don't want to. They can stay home, or they can skip over some candidates. That is a very real possibility this year. I have had hundreds of people that have contacted me, telling me, "I can't vote for McCain." I hope that Senator McCain will accommodate those people, for the sake of the conservative movement, as well as the Republican Party. But to repeat: I am voting for Governor Huckabee.
The Republican Party must reach out to social conservatives, like me, and so Mike Huckabee is solid. But Mike Huckabee also appeals to working people. The Republican Party by and large ignores the concerns of these people, especially when they are hurting. Governor Huckabee is the only candidate who has consistently reached out, during this campaign, to those who are hurting. It's great for the GOP hierarchy to say that the fundamentals of the economy are sound. But it's even more important to concentrate on real people, and to look for sound conservative solutions. Mike Huckabee is one of them by his own background, and so naturally he listens to them. By voting for him, millions of ordinary Americans will make their voice heard, loud and clear.
I call upon all my fellow conservatives to get out and support Governor Huckabee. A big vote for him is the best way to send a message to Senator McCain and the Republican Establishment that this is an election, not a coronation.
If the obstruction to a Republican victory which his campaign represents were fencing, our nation would have enough material to build the double-layer, coast-to-coast border fence that Ol' Señior Señátor Backstabber refuses to build — enough for both borders!

For the first time in your life, My Frieñd™, think of your party (no, not your de facto "D" one), and for once do the right thing and drop out now before it's too late for all of us.
That's the least you could do to try to make up for all the awful backstabbing "maverick" deals with Demoqrats, amnesty offers for illegal aliens, abridgment of our rights to speak out before any election against decades-long incumbents like yourself, and attempts to shut down the people's lawful gun shows.
Do it especially for those of us you still have the unmitigated gall to call "My Frieñds™."

President Huckabee will secure the border, including completing construction of the 700 mile southern border fence required by the Secure Fence Act, constructing more miles if needed, and keeping the National Guard on the border until it is secured.
President Huckabee will deter illegal entry by expanding the already successful Zero Tolerance Prosecution Policy (Operation Streamline) from 3 to all 20 border sectors, and support statutory mandatory minimums for the crimes of illegal entry, reentry, and reentry after deportation for any felony.
President Huckabee will give our immigration system integrity by completing the 10-year past due exit portion of The USVISIT (Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology) system and eliminate other weaknesses in the system so that future visa overstays can be identified.
President Huckabee will end the jobs magnet by requiring all employers to use the electronic verification system to check the legal status of all employees, reduce fraud by decreasing the number of documents employers must accept to prove legal status, and he will offer cooperating employers a safe harbor.
President Huckabee will require a biometric (fingerprint encoded) identification card for all aliens authorized to work.
President Huckabee will increase security for legal workers by requiring social security earnings statements to list all employers reporting wages under an individual's social security number so that fraudulent use of that number can be spotted and he will fight to keep using "no match notices" as evidence that employers knew they were employing an illegal alien under a social security number issued to someone else.
President Huckabee will form effective immigration enforcement partnerships with state and local law enforcement by clarifying their authority to enforce federal immigration laws, deputizing state and local officers in every state (through the 287(g) program), offering a basic training course for all state and local officers, and compensating state and local entities for immigration enforcement related expenses.
President Huckabee will promptly evaluate the 27% of prisoners that are non-citizens so that illegal alien criminals can be processed and deported at the end of their sentences, and he will implement a mandatory federal response to state and local law enforcement when they apprehend an illegal alien for a DUI, child abuse crime, or any felony.
President Huckabee will put an end to the existing policy that allows illegal aliens caught inside our country to be released on bail after their arrest while they await their initial court appearance.
President Huckabee will immediately expand the National Crime Information Center's (NCIC) Immigration Violators File to include: (A) aliens against whom a final order of removal has been issued; (B) aliens who have signed a voluntary departure agreement; (C) aliens who have overstayed their authorized period of stay; and (D) aliens whose visas have been revoked.
President Huckabee will encourage compliance with Federal law by implementing a reduction of at least 10% of discretionary federal grants and highway funds to cities, states, universities, and other entities that undermine Federal law by implementing sanctuary policies, issuing driver's licenses to illegal aliens, or offering education benefits to illegal aliens (such as in-state tuition) that are not available to all legal residents and citizens.
President Huckabee will rewrite the Treasury regulations to close the loophole that allows illegal aliens to open U.S. based bank accounts.
President Huckabee will eliminate the visa lottery program and change current preference categories that guarantee automatic entry for aging parents and extended family members and replace it with a system that fairly and objectively evaluates at least 50% of applicants based on characteristics such as education, skills, English ability, and age. Specifically, President Huckabee will end the visa lottery and eliminate chain migration of adult siblings and grown children.
President Huckabee will take a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens off the table.
President Huckabee will ask Congress for necessary laws or funds to execute these commitments.
By signing this document, President Huckabee expresses to the American people that he understands the challenges of ending illegal immigration, he is personally committed to that goal, and he will take the actions reasonable and necessary to achieve it.

It's been less than a week since New York's Sen. Hillary Clinton and Gov. Eliot Spitzer had to climb down from their support of driver's licenses for illegal aliens. Now House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has moved to kill an amendment that would protect employers from federal lawsuits for requiring their workers to speak English.
Being a staunch anti-English racist, Screecher Peloseri hates "you people" who speak only English. So it's no surprise she would abuse her high office and its powers to protect her fellow racists and their racist aims.
She just wants her al-Qongress to stay the racially-driven Peculiar Institution of extremists it inevitably became, to everyone's growing disgust, after Americans remorsefully allowed her Demoslaverat Party to be its master.
Among the employers targeted by such lawsuits: the Salvation Army.
Being a staunch anti-Christian bigot as well, Segregator Pelooni can't stand the Christian-connoted "salvation" in that organization's name.
But she has no problem marching right out there with the Brown Privilege™ Army, standing in all the doorways of her al-Qongress to block the admittance of anyone so uppity as to demand nothing more than the truly equal protections of America's laws.
Sen. Lamar Alexander, a moderate Republican from Tennessee, is dumbstruck that legislation he views as simple common sense would be blocked.
That's because Missa Peloopi's racism, like that exhibited by her racist colleagues, trumps common sense, Senator Alexander.
She'll lose her racist grip over her plantation House if she doesn't viciously block all common-sense efforts such as yours to end racial discrimination against English-speaking people.
He noted that the full Senate passed his amendment to shield the Salvation Army by 75-19 last month, and the House followed suit with a 218-186 vote just this month. "I cannot imagine that the framers of the 1964 Civil Rights Act intended to say that it's discrimination for a shoe shop owner to say to his or her employee, 'I want you to be able to speak America's common language on the job,'" he told the Senate last Thursday.
Nor did the Civil Rights Act's framers intend there to be a protected Brown Privilege™ that discriminates against People of Common Language, either.
Of course they never expected an overtly racist speaker like Ninny Proracist (D-KKKalifexico) would ever be running the House of Representatives and turning it into her own racially-divided plantation.
But that's exactly what the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is trying to do. In March the EEOC sued the Salvation Army because its thrift store in Framingham, Mass., required its employees to speak English on the job. The requirement was clearly posted and employees were given a year to learn the language. The EEOC claimed the store had fired two Hispanic employees for continuing to speak Spanish on the job. It said that the firings violated the law because the English-only policy was not "relevant" to job performance or safety.
Your government at "work," Mr. & Mrs. America.

Just as unsurprising, we're seeing on Missa Pethugi's Plantation the first rumblings of a wide-scale revolt coming from her own beaten and whipped servants.

Congressional Quarterly reports that he jabbed his finger on the House floor at Joe Baca, the California Democrat who chairs the Hispanic Caucus, and yelled, "How dare you destroy this party? This will be the worst loss in 10 years."
Well, seems Missa Nincompoopi's racially-motivated protection of Brown Privilege™ and pandering to race-baiting racists in her racism-steeped party's Plantation House will have one positive outcome after all.
