ommentary:
Our decennial census should not count any persons subject to some foreign power, especially unlawfully-present aliens. American sovereignty demands that their representatives be seated at the negotiating table rather than in Congress. That is, both their interests and ours are best served through international diplomacy, not federal legislation. Although it would seem Congress has power to exclude such persons from the count, it refuses to fully exercise that power. Likely that refusal is based on apprehensions regarding the constitutionality of a restricted count. If so, a reading of Patrick J. Charles' article "Representation Without Documentation?: Unlawfully Present Aliens, Apportionment, the Doctrine of Allegiance, and the Law" (Brigham Young University Journal of Public Law, Vol. 25, pg. 35, 2010) might lessen those apprehensions. As he explains it,
It is a hard sell to assert that aliens who fail to comply with the federal immigration laws fully submit themselves to the law. According to the tenets of the doctrine of allegiance, this failure to submit is a legal condition by which Congress could effectively exclude unlawfully present aliens from apportionment. To elaborate, an alien's failure to submit to the laws and declare his or her intent to lawfully settle makes that individual still a subject of the foreign jurisdiction from which he or she came, not the United States. To come to any other interpretation conflicts with the well-established plenary authority of the United States government to exclude and expel aliens—a power that is inherent with every sovereign nation through the right of self-preservation.
It should be emphasized that the right to be represented is a political right, not a natural or civil right. The distinction is significant because it was understood by the Founding Fathers that international law grants nations the sovereign authority to restrict or exclude aliens from political rights, including rights such as voting and bearing arms. In light of the limited number of total House seats available, it is unreasonable to think an apportionment process that allows states with the largest populations of unlawfully-present aliens to take undue advantage of all the other sovereign states can ever be just, fair, or equitable. Therefore, instead of leaving this matter to any concurrent discretion of Congress and the other two branches, the above amendment would expressly effect a process that more properly protects the sovereignty of not only our nation but every one of our states.

That is why I think the view that this announcement [aka "promise"™] by the White House of half a billion and 1,200 National Guard is a serious effort, a serious way to show seriousness about this, is total nonsense. This is a PR stunt. It's Lucy and the football all over again.
Remember, it was George Bush a few years ago who all of a sudden there was this concern, the border states were up in arms over [illegal] immigration. So he sends, I think it was a couple thousand National Guard. Well, they come and they go. And the problem remains, and the traffickers remain, the drug people remain, illegal immigrants remain.
What we're going to have here, as you said from [Senator] Kyl, they probably aren't even going to be on the border, they might even be just in desk jobs. This is nothing but a stunt on the part of the [mal]administration to try to show that it's interested in sealing the border in order that we'll get a deal on comprehensive [immigration "reform"], which really is a deal for amnesty.
And it's ridiculous. [Juan] McCain [RINO-AZ] had an argument with Obama in the meeting. It was described as rather testy. Interestingly, McCain [RINO-AZ] who was on Obama's side of the argument three years ago is now, because of a challenge [from Real Conservative® & RINO-Slayer™ J.D. Hayworth] in his own state, on the other, on the correct side today, in which he said to the president [sic] "close the damn border." I think he used the word "dang" instead because he's a military man.
And the president [sic], of course, objected. The only answer here, and it is a simple answer I say it again and again, because there was no objection that makes sense — complete the fence. Don't send the Guard down. They're going to go, they're going to come back, won't make any difference. A fence remains. A fence works.
It works around San Diego, and that's why you've got all this increased [illegal] immigration in Arizona because it is funneling, channeling all those who can't enter on the San Diego side into Arizona.
I mean, this is an obvious issue. The Democrats are unbelievably stubborn on this. If you want to really, you want to use stimulus money, you don't send 1,000 Guard. You send 20,000 unemployed and you build a fence quickly. And once that's done, let's have an argument and a debate about legalization and all the other steps.

Liberal (and very anti-gun) Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen called Holder's story about the pardon "disingenuous" and wrote that the Rich pardon alone shows that Holder is unfit for "a post that ought to be reserved for a lawyer who appreciated that while he reports to the president, he serves the people." [He also lied to the American people in] one notorious case in which his purported concern "for the children" led to some very aggressive use of firearms. Holder was deeply involved in the gunpoint, nighttime kidnapping of Elian Gonzalez in 2000. Elian and his mother fled Fidel Castro's tyranny in Cuba and the mother died at sea during the escape. Elian was welcomed and sheltered by his relatives in Florida, but Castro wanted him back; Reno and Holder were happy to oblige.
Holder had publicly promised that there would be no nighttime home invasion. After the nighttime home invasion occurred, he claimed that he had kept his promise because the attack had actually taken place an hour before dawn....
Although a Pulitzer Prize-winning photo showed a federal agent dressed like a soldier pointing a machine gun at the man who was holding the terrified child, Holder actually claimed that Gonzalez "was not taken at the point of a gun" and that the federal agents whom Holder had sent to capture Gonzalez had acted "very sensitively."
If Holder believes that breaking down a door with a battering ram, pointing submachine guns at children (not just Elian), and yelling, "Get down, get down, we'll shoot!" is an example of acting "very sensitively," his judgment about the responsible use of firearms is grossly insufficient for a cabinet officer who would be in charge of thousands and thousands of armed federal [BATFE] agents, many of them paramilitary agents with machine guns.
Holder's lack of integrity about the Rich pardon and the Gonzalez abduction would make him a poor choice for any law enforcement position. He is especially unsuited for attorney general — a position that, more than any other in the Cabinet, requires the rectitude to stand up to political pressure from the White House to bend the rule of law.

Geithner was informed by the IRS that he owed money in 2006 which was two years ago. Additionally, he failed to pay his taxes on more than one occasion. The truth is that he went for years owing taxes to the government....
Geithner also employed an illegal, or as the spokesman calls her, a person without documents.
Geithner also didn't realize a housekeeper he paid in 2004 and 2005 did not have current employment documentation as an immigrant for the final three months she worked for him, the transition official said.
