Liberal Utopia

What your world would be if everything liberals wanted, they got. Open the door at the bottom of its Elysium façade and take a glimpse of hell.

Blue States' Average Unemployment Rate Higher Than Red States'

Liberals progressively destroying our jobs.

B

lue states' average unemployment rate is 15 percent higher than Red states'!

Average of the 29 Blue states is over 9.6%: California 12.6%, Colorado 7.9%, Connecticut 9.2%, Delaware 9.2%, D.C. 11.6%, Florida 12.3%, Hawaii 6.9%, Illinois 11.5%, Indiana 9.9%, Iowa 6.8%, Maine 8.2%, Maryland 7.7%, Massachusetts 9.3%, Michigan 14.1%, Minnesota 7.4%, Nevada 13.4%, New Hampshire 7%, New Jersey 9.8%, New Mexico 8.8%, New York 8.6%, North Carolina 11.1%, Ohio 11%, Oregon 10.6%, Pennsylvania 9%, Rhode Island 12.6%, Vermont 6.5%, Virginia 7.4%, Washington 9.5%, Wisconsin 8.8%.

Average of the 22 Red states is under 8.4%: Alabama 11%, Alaska 8.6%, Arizona 9.6%, Arkansas 7.8%, Georgia 10.6%, Idaho 9.4%, Kansas 6.5%, Kentucky 10.7%, Louisiana 6.9%, Mississippi 11.5%, Missouri 9.5%, Montana 7.1%, Nebraska 5%, North Dakota 4%, Oklahoma 6.6%, South Carolina 12.2%, South Dakota 4.8%, Tennessee 10.6%, Texas 8.2%, Utah 7.2%, West Virginia 9.5%, Wyoming 7.3%.

Average number of rational people surprised by this fact is exactly 0.

Of course, the decreasing number of people still working in liberal states must be paid more because all the taxes and government spending with which those states burden them are extremely high.
It's funny that you think that 9.6 is 115% higher than 8.4. If you can't even do simple math, how is anyone supposed to believe anything else you say. You could say that the unemployment rate in blue states is 115% of red states, OR, you could say that it is 15% higher. You really are a complete moron. Cheers.
If inadvertently double typing a numeral makes me "a complete moron," what does publicly claiming that "500 million Americans lose their jobs" make Nancy Pelosi? If she can't even do simple number naming, how is anyone supposed to believe anything else she says. (Isn't there supposed to be a question mark at the end of that sentence? How is anyone supposed to believe anything else that anyone who doesn't properly punctuate their sentences says?)

But in honor of the ex-Speaker of the House — which, by the way, is an immeasurably great thing to write — I'll remove the offending numeral.
I take it you're just not good in math.

9.6% - 8.4% is 1.2%, not 15%.

The "Blue" States are where manufacturing gets done.

In a Recession, manufacturing jobs are the first to get layoffs.

Red States are more rural; Farmers don't get laid off.

Go take a math class.
Okay, class: 9.61 whatevers is 15% higher than 8.39 whatevers (i.e., 278.7/29 = ~9.61, 184.6/22 = ~8.39; 9.61/8.39 - 1 = ~0.145 = ~0.15); 9.6 percent is 1.2 percentage points (not percent) greater than 8.4 percent. Thus, a 2% X is not 1% higher than a 1% X, but 100% higher. Class over.

Homework assignment (fill in the blanks): 1. "Altogether, the 9 percent headline figure is an illusory portrait of the situation across the country, representing 13,863,000 men and women out of work. What happens if you add to that the 8.4 million 'involuntary' part-time employed, whose hours have been cut back? Then you get a household unemployment rate slightly under ___ percent." 2. In August 2011, over two years after the "official" end of the recession, the average unemployment rate in Blue states stood at 8.66 percent, and in Red states 7.90 percent. The unemployment rate in Blue states, therefore, is ___ percent higher than in Red states.
